This treatment is specific to those going through or have gone through various cancer treatments/surgeries.  If lymph nodes have been removed/radiated, measurements of the limbs are done to see if lymphedema is present and/or to get a baseline of the affected area.  Full assessment of the tissue is completed to get an understanding of how the tissue looks and feels, what areas cause pain, identify the areas that are tight and reducing range of motion, and identify areas of swelling (edema) whether it being post operative edema or lymphedema.

Manual Lymph Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a sequence of very light massage techniques that help to stimulate the
movement of lymphatic fluid. It reduces the buildup of fluid in the body and helps improves tissue health. Due to the technique having such a gentle touch, it also helps to promote relaxation.

Massage Therapy

Using Swedish techniques, this is the most common form of massage. The Massage Therapist will manipulate the soft tissues and joints to help alleviate pain, improve range of motion and reduce tension throughout the body. A combination of lighter and deeper techniques will be used to get your body back to proper working order.

I am a graduate of Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic and I am registered and in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. I am also Dr. Vodder certified in Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy. Prior to my training in massage therapy, I received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario.

Through my training and clinic experience, I have experience in treating the following conditions: Lymphedema, Headaches/Migraines, Post Surgery Scar Work, Cording (axillary web syndrome), Fat necrosis, Post operative edema, to name a few.

I also have a special interest in women’s health specifically, Breast Health and Breast Massage. I believe that It is an area that often gets overlooked and I ensure that my patients are provided with an open and comfortable environment to discuss their breast health. This can be anything from dealing with premenstrual breast pain, pregnancy and discomforts with breastfeeding, to patients who have had a lumpectomy/mastectomy/breast reconstruction due to a breast cancer diagnosis. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I have first hand knowledge of how breast massage can help in the recovery process after a mastectomy and/or breast reconstruction.

In my free time you can find me traveling to exotic countries, scuba diving, camping and paddling away on a SUP.
